****Win A Coffee Experience****

Between December 13 and December 24, 2014 we will be hosting a contest just for you, our fabulous staff! Plus we are hosting a Barista Latte Art Showcase where all enties are shown for everyone to see no matter how many 'Favourite' votes an image receives because we are proud of everyone's efforts.

The contest is designed to showcase your latte art skills. We know many of you are very accomplished latte artists while others are still mastering the skill and the rest are somewhere in between. We don't care how accomplished a latte artist you are; however, what we do care about is the fact that you are trying and always improving. Don't hesitate to enter. Give us a chance to see and share your abilities with people outside your cafe. We know you work hard and that you are proud of what you do so...let's go public!!

How The Contest Works

There are two groups from which 10 grand prize winners will be selected. Group 1 is represented by cafes located in Mill Bay, Victoria and the surrounding areas including Sooke and Sidney. Group 2 is represented by cafes located in the Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo, Parksville, Port Alberni, Courtenay and Campbell River. Each group will have a maximum of 5 grand prize winners.

Your chance of having your latte art selected by our Twitter followers at some point during the contest is very good because the count starts at 0 every day. At the end of each day, the name of the creator of the latte art with the most Twitter 'Favourites' is put into the draw for the grand prize, which takes place on December 29, 2014. This process is repeated every day until the end of the contest on December 24, 2014. The names of the grand prize winners will be posted on our Twitter page and on our website's 2014 Barista Latte Art Show page before 11:59pm on December 29.

Be sure to encourage your cafe guests, friends, family and coworkers to vote for your entries. Anyone can vote but only Serious Coffee staff can win. Each person can vote once per day, per image for as many submissions as desired but only once for a specific image.

Your Latte Art

We truly want this to be a Latte Art Show more than a competition so all latte art submissions will be posted on our website, no matter the number of votes garnered. We want to ensure that your efforts are being recognized and shared with those who may not have a Twitter account or be aware of how skilled you are at what you do.

To Enter

All you have to do is...

  1. be a current employee at any Serious Coffee cafe,
  2. take a photo of your latte art (latte art must be appropriate for all ages and you may take a photo of as many different latte art creations as you make in a day but you must maintain the highest level of customer service during the process),
  3. email the image to social@seriouscoffee.com,
  4. in the Subject line of the email put 2014 Latte Art Show. This is important because there are two contests happening at the same time making it vital that the subject line clearly communicate which contest is being entered.

In the body of the email you must include...

  1. your first and last names,
  2. the name of the cafe in which you work,
  3. and the name of the latte art (to make sure we get it right when posting the information on Twitter).

Only your first name, cafe's name and the name of the latte art will be posted.

You may enter more than once every day but each entry must be a different latte art image, and you may enter every day of the contest. If you forget to include the required information in your email, your entry may not be posted because if it is selected as the day's most 'Favourite', we won't be able to enter the latte artist's name into the draw.

How People Vote

Those who have a Twitter account go to Serious Coffee's Twitter page, @Serious_Coffee and select the star found under an image as shown below. 'Favourite' works the same as when someone 'Likes' something on Facebook.

Selection of Winners

Head office will separate the names of those who qualify to be entered into two groups based on the cafe location, with each group's grand prize winners selected by random draw. Each day there is only one person eligible to have their name entered into the grand prize draw no matter which group is represented. If there aren't enough entries to pull 5 winners for a specific group, the prize will be won by those who chose to participate and met the entry requirements.

Notification of Each Day's Fan Favourite and Grand Prize Winners

The person whose latte art garnered the most 'Favourites' will have their name posted on Twitter and our website by the following day. On December 29 before 11:59 pm, the grand prize winners will be listed on Twitter and our website. In addition, by no later than January 5, 2015 an email will be sent to the chain listing the names of the grand prize winners. The grand prize winners will also be contacted by Drew Silvey to make arrangements regarding a date for the trip to Head Office.

The Grand Prize

The Grand Prize consists of a maximum of 10 winners (5 from each group) who will be invited to the roasting plant located in Duncan (assistance with transportation is available) to gain firsthand knowledge about the coffee roasting process, participate in a complete cupping session with Drew Silvey, be treated to lunch at Just Jakes (an extremely popular Duncan restaurant) and each will be paid their usual day's wage, all covered by Head Office. The idea for this prize came from you during our team's site visits when we met with staff to gather feedback and input. It's taken a while to put it together but we did hear you!
