Dan Politano BIO - Dan Politano

Dan’s debut EP, Staring With My Eyes Closed, was released in 2005, produced by Juno Award winner John Webster and earned three singles released to radio. The second single, "Smile" was licenced to the Global and ABC series Falcon Beach, which went on to be licenced in over 30 countries.

His sophomore EP was produced by Joby Baker who’s worked with artists like The Cowboy Junkies, Alex Cuba and The Paperboys. The song "Shattered", was inspired by one of Dan's friend who went through a tough time with drugs.  He made a video for the song that has facts about crystal meth with half of the money from the downloads of the song being donated to the Crystal Meth Society of BC. "Shattered" and "Maybe" both saw airplay on Hot AC Radio Stations across Canada.

In 2006, Dan was a finalist in The David Foster Star Search in BC. This all led to Dan opening for some bigger names in Canadian music. Bands like Jets Overhead, Doug and the Slugs, The Grapes of Wrath and two sold out shows for Matthew Good. At a recent gig, Dan had the pleasure of hooking up with Tal Bachman as they performed two Beatle songs, "Drive My Car"and "I Feel Fine".

Dan Politano’s third EP, Solo is an acoustic collection of new songs. Dan recorded and produced the EP himself at his home studio. “It was great to have the time and creative freedom to record myself”, explains Dan. "No rush and no big studio costs."

Four years ago Dan decided to pick up the bass and start some of Victoria's best cover bands. Younger Than Yesterday, Rock of Ages and Free Ride. He's been averaging 100 shows a year. After all these gigs it was time to get back to his own music.  ‘Solo’  is a digital release only and is now available on all major download sites. ‘Solo’ is the fifth release on Dan’s own label Solo Records.  All his releases are available on iTunes.

Serious Coffee’s Note: One of the earliest submissions we received was from Dan. Upon reviewing his bio we were amazed that he had time to create and enter a jingle in our contest! How lucky we are to have such an experienced and gifted musician living and playing on Vancouver Island!
